The Rain Clouds
--John Harricharan

At first they seemed so bright
Reflecting all the light,
But suddenly they hid the sun,
Which ceased to shine,
While all the time
Their mysteries had begun.

Then next they seemed so large,
Like some infernal barge
A-sitting there and waiting still,
Their deed to do
With fury true,
A mission to fulfill.

Now comes a roaring sound;
The lightning strikes the ground
And earth and sky just wait to see.
They burst their seams
About their reams,
And rain falls fast and free.

The sun shines once again,
No sign of all this rain.
But good has come from darkness yet,
For flowers bloom,
And lovers swoon,
Though people will forget.
