 A Speck of Dust
--John Harricharan

And as I stood upon this speck of dust
And gazed into the Milky Way afar,
The thought of things too strange to understand
Wove webs of wonder, through the things that are.

Yet out through space and time I gazed again,
The marvels of our age to better find.
The silent yearnings of a soul proclaim
The deepest longings of all humankind.

Out there I saw Orion's brilliant belt,
A-glowing with the gift of gods in space,
And deep within a strange, sad feeling felt,
How small this orb, how little is this place.
