The Sower and the Seeds

(based on the parable of "The Sower and the Seeds")

A sower went forth, some seeds to sow
Upon the ground that they might grow.
And as he sowed, by the wayside fell
A number of seeds near his old grey well.
And the birds of the air in small flocks came
And ate every bit of the farmer's grain.

The other seeds that the farmer threw,
Fell on the rocks with the morning dew.
But lacking food, the poor things died,
Scorched by the sun and fully dried.
'Til all that remained on the rocks to be seen,
Were little black dots that were once so green.

But the farmer continued his job to do
And sowed more seeds that were good and true.
And though some fell midst the thorns and weeds,
He kept on sowing the other seeds
'Til some of the ones which he finally sowed,
Fell on good ground where they could grow.

And the ones that grew brought forth much grain
With the help of the sun and the wind and the rain.
So thus ends this tale, which you might have heard,
For it came from the ancients' holy word.
And now that you've heard it again, just know,
That good seeds that fall on good ground grow.
